숙소를 출발해서 튜브를 타고 런던 브릿지 London Bridge역에서 하차했다.

런던 브릿지는 다음 노래로도 유명하다. 영국에서는 17세기부터 불렀다고 한다.

비가 추적추적 내리던 날이어서, 우산을 쓰고 런던 브릿지를 천천히 걸어서 건넜다. 

멀리 보이는 도개교는 타워 브릿지. 멀리서 보는 게 더 멋있을 것 같아서 타워 브릿지는 가지 않았다.

런던 브릿지를 건너서 대화재 기념(?) 구역을 지난 후 모뉴먼트 Monument 역 근처 하우스 오브 프레이저 House of Fraser에 들어가 보았다. 마침 유럽 전역에서 크리스마스 이후 대규모 세일 행사를 진행중이어서, 나도 70% 할인된 저렴한 가격으로 현지 브랜드 득템 성공.

다시 런던 브릿지를 건너서 써덕 대성당 Southwark cathedral로 향했다. 현지 발음은 사우스워크가 아니고, 써덕이 맞음. 내부는 사진 촬영 금지였는데, 전형적인 유럽식 성당이었다.

써덕 대성당 맞은 편에는 보로 마켓 Borough market이 있어서, 점심도 먹을 겸 어슬렁어슬렁 거닐었다.

보로 마켓에서 구입한 팔라필 샌드위치 Falafel sandwich와 소세지 바게트는 써덕 성당 앞 의자에서 홍차와 함께 먹었다.

레스터 스퀘어역에서 친척들을 만나서 저녁을 먹기로 해서, 보로 마켓을 나와서 다시 내셔널 포트레잇 갤러리로 향했다. 이 날 뭔가 간단한 리셉션 행사가 있어서, 입구의 로비에는 와인 등이 있는 테이블이 있었고 꽤 많은 사람들이 모여 있었다.

이 날 저녁을 먹은 곳은 차이나 타운 근처의 카페 에스파냐 Cafe Espana.

당시 감기가 심하게 걸려서, 부츠 Boots에서 가루로 된 cold relief를 사서 밤부터 먹었더니 효과가 좋았다. Black current 맛이어서 약간 오묘하긴 했는데, 그래도 먹기에 나쁘지 않았다.
